Brian Williams
Brian Williams is our Band Manager. On behalf of and under the general direction of the Kispiox Band Council, he plans, directs, organizes, implements and controls the provision of a wide variety of programs and services to the Band membership.
The Band Manager is directly responsible to Council and works along with all the staff to ensure that all departments within the Kispiox Band are functioning to their utmost capacity. This teamwork ensures that the implementation of Council policies and directives create an effective and efficient operation of the band administration.
Gloria Wesley
Hi my names is Gloria Wesley and I am the Kispiox Band Receptionist. My role and responsibilities for Kispiox Band Council Administration include greeting visitors, determining the nature of their business and directing them to the appropriate personnel. I answer telephone and electronic enquiries and relay telephone calls and messages. I schedule bookings for Kispiox Community Centre, ABE Building, and the Administration boardroom and prepare invoices, record and prepare minutes of meetings, arrange travel schedules and make reservations.
I am also responsible for ordering office supplies, maintaining our inventory, opening and distributing incoming regular and electronic mail and other material; then I co-ordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments and organizations. My duties also include scheduling and confirming appointments, meetings and at times organizing conferences. I am also responsible to supervise and train other staff in procedures and use of our current software. I perform any other duties related to the position of Receptionist, as directed by the Band Manager and when the schedule and workload permit.
Julia Corbett
Julia Corbett, C.G.A. is our Finance Manager who provides the day to day accounting and financial reporting procedures both internally and externally. Julia also provides advisory services and hands-on assistance to all our departments within the Kispiox Band Administration, including the Kispiox Gasbar and Anspayaxw Developments.
As the Finance Manager Julia provides financial advice and guidance on our financial management systems, procedures and principles, and acts as a resource person for the overall financial management of our Band. She is also the liaison officer with Band staff and our auditors.
Julia relocated here from Golden, B.C. and began working for Kispiox Band in April 2011. She looks forward to meeting more people from the community.
Sandi Reviakin, B.Ed.
My name is Sandi Reviakin. I am in the Lax Gibuu (wolf) clan and belong to xGwoimtxw’s House. As your Indian Registry Administrator I administer the Membership program on behalf of Indian and Northern Affairs for the Kispiox Band. I assist our members by recording births, marriages, divorces, deaths, transfers, name changes, adoptions and registrations on the Indian Registry Program. I gather the supporting documents and forward them to Indian and Northern Affairs for processing. Entitlement is determined by the Indian Act.
As the Lands Manager I maintain all records with the most recent legal descriptions of all property located on-reserve. I am also responsible for recording and maintaining the personnel files.
I enjoy working for our Band and providing services to our membership. If you have any questions regarding membership, lands or the upcoming election please call or drop by the office any time. I work from Monday to Friday - 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. No appointments are necessary but it is recommended you call ahead before you come in.
Shannon Skulsh
Shannon Skulsh is our Band Social Development Worker. She is an employee of the Kispiox Band, who has been assigned responsibility for administering the Social Development Program. She is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities assigned to an administering authority as per the Gitksan Government Commission Social Development Policy and Procedures Manual. Those duties and responsibilities include not only eligibility-testing for social assistance and the payment of allowances, but may include a wide range of activities of a social and economic development nature.
Under the supervision of the Band Manager, the Social Development worker administers the social development program, home support services and adult care programs and assists in the development of community resources, capacities, and service. She establishes and maintains sound working relationships with other band staff, departmental staff, and representatives of other departments and agencies such as Human Resource Development Canada, provincial Ministry of Human Resources, Medical Services Branch, and mental health programs.
Shannon is knowledgeable on the Social Assistance policy and procedures.
Maxwell Stevens
Maxwell Stevens is our Forestry Manager. He manages Kispiox’s forestry department under the direction of the Kispiox Band Manager and the Board of the Anspayaxw Development Ltd. Max is responsible for the general planning, organization and implementation of short and long term operational programs in the silvi-culture department. He prepares bids on forestry contracts with the Ministry of Forests.
Max also supervises the contracts for road construction/maintenance and submits bids for contract work with the Ministry of Transportation and Highways for road maintenance.
In addition he also oversees the Economic Development program on behalf of Kispiox Band under the direction of the Band Manager and Band Council.
Kay Wilson
Kay Wilson is our Gasbar Manager. She ensures excellent service is provided in an efficient, effective and friendly manner to the customers of the Kispiox Gasbar “the customer always comes first” is her motto.
As the manager she supervises all employees of the Kispiox Gasbar in a fair, supportive and consistent manner and trains and assists employees to ensure the best service for the customer.
Kay also submits and approves orders, completes banking tasks, deals with disputes, evaluates all employees of the gasbar and works with all organizations the Gasbar is involved with in a respective and courteous manner.
Gwen Johnson
Gwen Johnson is our Housing Officer. The overall purpose of the Housing Officer position is to oversee the Band Housing program under the direction of the Band Manager. Her duties include processing applications for new housing, construction of new homes, rental units and renovations. The main priority is to stay within budget.
The Housing Officer along with the Band Manager offer guidance for contractors in the housing department to meet the needs of a growing community by providing adequate built housing.
Heather Skulsh
Heather Skulsh is our Social Development Clerk. She assists the Social Development Worker by performing duties and responsibilities which include not only eligibility-testing for social assistance and the payment of allowances, but may include a wide range of activities of a social and economic development nature.
As the Social Development Clerk Heather maintains a confidential file on each client which includes case recordings and copies of all required forms in connection with application for assistance and correspondence regarding the case and records of all disbursements of funds, including amounts and purposes. Other duties include completing reports for submission to Gitksan Government Commission and to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada with copies retained in the band office. Heather also assists in our finance department whenever required.
Merci Hillis
Hello my name is Merci Hillis. I am the Custodian Supervisor of the Kispiox Community Hall and the Adult Basic Education Building. As the custodians our duties at the Kispiox Hall and ABE building include setting up for community events, feasts, funerals, weddings, recreation, family dinners, etc. To ensure the operation runs smoothly and efficiently we liaison with the band administration staff. All bookings must go through the Receptionist at the Kispiox Administration office.
Our duties include cleaning the hall and ABE building specifically the kitchen, bathrooms, janitor rooms, storage rooms, upstairs, downstairs, the garbage on the grounds, sweeping, mopping and disinfecting and ordering supplies. We are also responsible for small maintenance for both buildings.
It is our responsibility to know who, what, where, and when people are having their events, so the buildings are clean, set up and open on time.
Laureen Weget
Ama sa - Good day! My name is Laureen Weget. I belong to the House of Luus. I am a member of the Wolf clan, Gitksan Nation.
I am the Family Support Worker (FSW) for the People of Kispiox. The FSW is responsible for developing a trusting and respectful relationship with First Nations children, families and communities. I am responsible for assisting and providing individual services to families and assisting in the development of programs to support, educate and reduce the risks to children and families.
I love my job.
